Taiwan - Long Tan

On the morning of Saturday, March 2, the full Chen family reunion began!  We picked up Sarah, Christian, Charlotte, and Henry at the airport and headed to my (Callista's) mom's hometown, Long Tan.  At her childhood home, her father (my maternal grandfather)'s home had barely changed since he passed away several years ago.  On the wall hung portraits of my relatives, starting with my grandfather:

His parents (my great-grandparents)
and his second wife (my maternal grandmother):

My mom's youngest brother came to meet us.  Here he is with Charlotte and my mom (see any family resemblance?)

After the house tour, we headed to the temple down the street.  It looks basically as I remember it from my own childhood, except now there are electronic signs.

The market in Long Tan is well known for its traditional foods and wares.
Christian and Sarah were pretty excited about it.
We ran into two of my mom's cousins at the market.

Henry reminded us to stop at our favorite little shop for tripe stir-fried with vinegar and ginger, tripe soup, and other beef delicacies.

Charlotte looks skeptical about the whole affair, but it was delicious.
