Fashion Friday #6: Ensembles

This week we're featuring a couple of Aviva's two-piece ensembles. The first one is a pink, corduroy, two-piece outfit by First Impressions. Thanks to Leslie and Kevin Dalton for it, and for the very cute cupcake bib.

Her second outfit today is a little big, as it is for babies up to six months, but we liked it so we put her in it anyway. Aviva was a little grumpy during the second photo shoot:
but you can see that there is a strawberry on the left front of her hoodie, as well as on her bottom.
She was especially miffed when we made her model her bottom for the camera.

Happy Friday!

Fashion Friday #5: Corduroy

The weather has been extremely varied here. One day it will be in the mid-high 80s, with bright sunshine and blue skies, and the next day it will be only in the high 60s, with dark gray skies and lots of rain. Today it was quite cool and breezy in the morning, so I thought we might show off some of Aviva's colder weather clothes.

This first outfit is a turtleneck onesie (who even knew there was such a thing?) and a little corduroy dress with pink embroidered flowers and ruffles. It's by Little Bitty, size 3-6 months, and fits her great. You can't tell from the photo, but there is even a little embroidered flower on the neckline.

Aviva's second outfit is Mary Jane by Buster Brown, and it's a little big, but I couldn't resist the theme of corduroy dresses. It's actually a 6-9 month dress, and she's wearing a white long-sleeved t-shirt underneath.

Thanks to the Sevin family for both of these darling dresses.

Hopefully next week it will be warmer, and we'll be able to show off more of Aviva's sundresses.

Happy Friday!

Happy Four Month Birthday!!!

Today is Aviva's four month birthday! We are thrilled and grateful that she is happy and healthy.

As you can see from the photos, she's getting so big that she's starting to crowd out the cow!

This is almost certainly the last time she'll be able to wear this onesie from our friend Laura, so in case I forgot to say it earlier, Thanks, Laura! We really love this one.

Fashion Friday #4: Skirts

For I wanted to show off two of Aviva's very cute skirts. But first, I have to show you just exactly how much clothing this baby already owns. What she's inherited from the Sevin twins plus all the gifts she's received equals:

the top shelves of the closet in the guest bedroom,

one whole drawer in the guest bedroom chest of drawers,

all three drawers in her own dresser,
and an entire closet-ful of dresses!

So please believe us when we say this baby needs no more clothing! Anyway, onto the fashion show...

First, she has this very cute flowered skirt and pink shirt, both from H&M, and from the Sevin twins. Both are size 2-4 months. Unfortunately I couldn't get a shot without showing off her yellow bumGenius cloth diapers, too. Sorry, Aviva!

Next, you may recognize this flowered tunic from her Thanksgiving photos. Here it is paired with a ruffled, light pink skirt. Both are 2-4 month pieces from H&M. This whole outfit, including the socks that look like shoes, is also from the Sevin twins. The socks are by Trumpette.

Unfortunately skirts just aren't very practical for small babies; they just ride up when we carry her, and then we basically end up holding her right on her diapers. Oh well, they sure look cute.

Happy Friday!

Hiking to the Rock Lodge

Last weekend the five of us (Peter, Callista, Aviva, Dan, and Ozsel) drove out with Jessi, Uri, and Asher to an area called Ngwempisi and hiked down to a place called Kopho Lodge. The lodge is also known around here as "the rock lodge," as it is basically an open air structure built right into the mountainside. It is a community run project, and we were happy to support the local folks there. Someday we want to spend the night there. As you can see, the view from the lodge was beautiful.

There was even an outdoor shower.
We had to break at the lodge there to feed our respective babies.
Peter and Aviva got ready for more hiking:
We posed for the camera, though it was a bit bright for a good shot.

We were impressed by the backpack that Uri used to carry Asher.

Fashion Friday #3: Polka Dots, Ears, and Birthday Hats!

Happy Friday, everyone!

Aviva has lots and lots of polka dot outfits, so I (Callista) thought I'd show some of them off. This newborn Carter's onesie is really too small, but I couldn't resist squeezing her into it one last time. She is thinking, "Why did Mommy do this? This outfit makes me look chubby."

This 0-3 month onesie fits much better (though you can see her cloth diaper peeking out.)

It's been pretty cold and rainy this week, so Aviva has also been spending lots of time in cozy outfits. This 0-3 month two-piece set from Old Navy fits just right.

And this 0-3 month one from Old Navy is also almost too small...but it makes her look like a furry muppet, and keeps her super warm, so we squeezed her into it for some photos.

Most importantly, today is Aviva's cousin Seamus' first birthday, so Aviva put on her party hat to celebrate. Happy Birthday, Seamus!!!

Welcome Dan and Ozsel!

Since Friday, our friends Dan and Ozsel have been staying with us. (Dan is a good friend of ours from our Liberia days.) They are visiting from Boston, where they are both students. They are already getting to know Aviva.
On Sunday we went for a tough but beautiful hike at Malolotja Nature Reserve. Ozsel posed in front of a gorgeous view:
We rushed to drink the water from our Camelback-knockoff when it started to leak - on both sides!

Aviva flexed her biceps for the camera.
And she enjoyed the hike from under her sun shade.
After a long downhill walk, we stopped at a nice stream so that I (Callista) could feed Aviva and everyone could rest.
Everyone else had pretzels and apples, while Aviva ate her hand.
We had to be careful passing Aviva over the water.

We're having a great time with Dan and Ozsel and are very glad they're here!
