In August, we finally went on the long weekend trip we'd been thinking about since we arrived in Swaziland: skiing in Lesotho.
However, we were pleasantly surprised. Here's the view from the top of the main run:
There was definitely enough snow for the intermediate skiers (Callista and Ellen), and our friends that were beginner skiers (Nicole, Armand, and Erik.) The only advanced skier, Peter, probably could have done with a steeper run, but he made up for it by skiing with a monkey on his back.
I skied with Franklin a bit, too.
It's not everyday that one gets to ski in Sub-Saharan Africa, so we were very happy to get to do this before we left. After driving nine hours (not bad for adults, but terrible for two small kids), we arrived one late afternoon.
From the road, AfriSki didn't look like much. We actually started laughing when we saw this:
But as we grew closer, it got more exciting, especially for Aviva. First item on the agenda was to touch the snow!

| "Why are Daddy and Grandma Ellen so happy?"
Our friends Sarah and Lila also checked out the snow.
