Phophonyane Falls and Malolotja with Henry and Jessica

Last Tuesday (March 8), we drove to Phophonyane Falls and Malolotja Nature Reserve. To get to to the base of the falls, we only had to hike about 10-15 minutes (including one section down a steep stairway,) but getting back up was a bit strenuous and probably took us almost 20 minutes.

After a quick hike at Phophonyane Falls, we drove to Malolotja Nature Reserve.

We had a lovely time driving around, and were driving along a fairly isolated, very rocky road. Suddenly I (Callista) noticed that the steering wheel of our car had become increasingly difficult to control. We stopped the car to check and found out we had a flat tire! You may not be able to tell from this photo, but by the time we stopped, the tire had two huge rips in it.
Fortunately we had a spare.

Lots of excitement for a Tuesday afternoon. We were very lucky to have discovered the flat while we still had lots of daylight and to have had a spare. A word of warning to anyone who drives at Malolotja: don't go on the road where a four wheel drive vehicle is required. (We think it's the road to the viewpoint marked by two parallel curving lines, but we'll confirm that the next time we go there.)
