Other than the fact that we started hiking almost at noon (oops) under a blazing hot sun, which resulted in my having to take a four-hour recovery nap, it was very pleasant.
Last weekend we ventured a bit farther to Malolotja, about 40 minutes away. It's a gigantic nature reserve, with some beautiful blesboks (see below), and gorgeous, rolling hills. Luckily that day the sun was behind clouds during our hike, and we brought lots of food reserves (i.e., peanut butter and jelly sandwiches) so that we could take our time on the hike.

Afterwards, we had a snack at the very beautiful Phophonyane Falls Lodge, where we hope to return for a weekend sometime later this year.

In between hiking, we've been taking advantage of lots of generous dinner invitations from friends. A few weeks ago we went to our friend Kerry's house, where we had an amazing Thai meal and enjoyed playing with her gigantic dog:

It may be difficult to tell from this photo, but this dog is enormous! Fortunately for everyone he was also very sweet, despite having a very ferocious bark.

That is so cool to be able to see warthogs. Calvin will get a kick out of knowing that's what happens in Africa! Sending hugs!
The scenery is incredible. Get your hikes in while you still can!
